Thanks for your Christmas goat contribution
A few weeks ago I sent out a message for my friend Joe Gorman promoting a special Christmas gift of a goat for African families.
Today, I want to say thank you to everyone who contributed. Joe and his African ministries appreciate your generosity. Your response was incredible.
I also found out that many of you are contributing to other causes to help those in need such as Heifer International. How exciting to see that so many are doing what they can to help!
If you missed the email you can view the message and story at http://www.joegorman.net/giving-gifts-with-a-purpose/. Or, see the original email at http://www.markbrozovich.com/a-christmas-goat/.
It is exciting to see the work that Joe is doing in Africa. Your contributions (100%) go directly to the families in need in Africa. I believe he is planning his next trip sometime in May of 2009.
On-going contributions are being accepted to support the African ministries and you may continue to contribute by sending your gifts to the Golden Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 18499, Golden, Colorado, 80402.
Keep up with Joe on his blog at http://www.joegorman.net.
All the best for a great 2009.

A Christmas Goat
I’m writing you today to introduce to you what my
friend, Joe Gorman, is doing to change the world one family at a time in
Africa. Joe has traveled to Africa six
times since 2001 where he has taught at Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi,
Kenya and created various micro economic projects. To read about one of the projects Joe has
done through the generosity of others, see “A Home for Veronique” on Joe’s Blog..
As crazy as it might sound, one goat can change the world for a child in the war-ravaged
country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A goat can provide money for school fees,
milk for protein, and most importantly it gives a family hope that tomorrow can
be better than today.
difference can I make? By buying a
goat for a loved one this Christmas, you can change a child’s life. For an incredible story of how one goat
changed the world for one child click on the following link to Nicholas
Kristof’s outstanding New York Times article
at http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/03/opinion/03kristof.html?em.
“With all the money
donated to help fight famine around the world, with all the grandiose plans
conceived to conquer poverty, sometimes all it takes to save a child is a
goat.” –60
Minutes, CBS News
a lasting, meaningful way to help a boy or girl on the other side of the
world. Goats can thrive in extreme
climates and on poor, dry land by eating grass and leaves. And because goats often have two or three
kids a year, the children you help can lift themselves out of poverty by
starting small dairies that earn money for food, healthcare and education. Gift of a Goat: $50
This Christmas touch the
heart of family, friends, colleagues and clients with the gift of a goat ($50),
duck ($10), chicken ($5), sheep ($50), sewing machine ($150) or community well
or tilapia pond ($1000). Gifts with a Purpose give at least two
times: once for the person for whom you
buy the gift and a second time for the boy or girl or HIV/AIDS-stricken
community who receives your gift.
Every Gift You Give
- Goes directly to children and
families who need it most. -
Comes with a gift card to
express your love and say “Thank you!” to friends, family, colleagues, and
others on your Christmas list. Gifts of
goats come with a picture of a child who has been the recipient of a past gift. -
Will be used wisely and efficiently. Because of Joe’s friendship
with Celestin Chishibanji (Congo), Simon Pierre (Rwanda), and Frank Mills
(Ghana), we are able to get your gift directly to those most in need (All
administrative costs are taken care of through other channels, which means that
100% of what you give goes directly to helping children and families in need). -
Will Change lives. And yours just might be
one of them.

It starts with me. It starts with
