Social Networking

I am just amazed at the amount of social networking taking place.  And, I believe it really is a great thing.  How would we accomplish such vast communication without it today?  How did we ever do without it?  Imagine the personal and business connections that are being made today with applications like FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter, FriendFeed and more…

I have just started to see my networks take off.  I really only got started using these tools around the first of August this year.  Thank God!  It has really helped me connect and stay in touch with my networks.  Most of these were introduced to me by Ed Dale and Dan Raine who run the 30 Day Challenge.  These guys are on it!  They are teaching thousands to market on the Internet and incorporating many teaching videos about these social networking tools.

These applications provide you a way for people to follow you and stay in touch with what you are doing in your profession and personal life.  They build business connections and personal credibility.  I would suggest that everyone interested in building networks of people for whatever reason give them a try.

I would start with Facebook, twitter, and Linkedin.  Then, set up a Friendfeed account so that your entire updates can been seen in one central spot.

Give it a try and follow me and see what it is all about.  Let me know if I can help you.

Christmas Cards

For so many years we have been sending out Christmas cards that were purchased, hand-written, self-licked (the stamps that is…), and self addressed.  Has anyone else been tired of spending endless hours doing this?  Now, don’t get me wrong here…it is the thought that counts…right?

What if you could send out a personalized Christmas greeting card or Christmas letter in your own handwriting, include photo’s, use your own signature, design your own card, and let somebody else lick the stamps and address it for you?

We did exactly that with our 2007 Christmas card and plan to do it again this year.  You have to consider the time savings you will get by doing this.  Imagine uploading all your contacts, creating the card and with the press of a button everyone on you Christmas list gets a personalized card.

Ask me how!  This system is awesome.  Send a free card and try it on me…I can show you how to get it done and now is the time.  Give me a call or email me at Mark@markbrozovich.com for assistance.

Hope you all had a very nice and Happy Thanksgiving with your family.

Best,

Mark…

Bad News…

I have some bad news…well and some good news to follow.

I was hit a week ago by a nasty computer virus! No! Not me! I have had all the protection in the world for several years and never had such a nasty infection. I guess it just goes to show you that those little buggers can get anybody if you let your guard down. I think I picked it up when I was looking at some web designs and clicked on a site to investigate. All of a sudden everything just went a bit strange and then finally the site came up. I got so suspicious when it took so long for the site to appear. During that slow period a virus called Anti virus XP 2008 had loaded itself on my machine. I’ll save you all the details but suffice it to say that it took my over 5 hours combined to manually delete all the files and ended up having to install some other malware program to assist me.

You must be careful…and so I thought I was. But as Googler’s we tend to click on anything that comes up and don’t pay too much attention to the link. And if those links are long enough to scare you then watch out!

Now for the good news…There is hope but you must start watching your clicking habits. Not just on Google searches but your email. Email is where most virus programs are picked up by opening attachments and clicking on links. And, most of these emails are sent to us by people that we don’t even know. Why do we open them? Usually because of the enticing subject and content that scares us into clicking. How do we avoid these emails and the phishing that can get us into trouble? Never, never, and never click on a link included in an email that comes from any financial institution or other company where you must input your user name/password. And, where you have personal financial information stored. Trust me, I have seen all the frauds from banks, credit unions, PayPal, eBay and others saying primarily that my account has been updated or I need to verify a purchase and to, “click here” to change or verify some information. Here are some recent ones that have come into my inbox:

  1. From someone claiming to be Fedex and including a tracking number to click on because they tried to deliver my package and I was not home. Well, first of all folks, I was not expecting anything from Fedex so that was my first clue. The other one was that the included link was a .zip file and this spells trouble! So I took the tracking number from the subject line and went to Fedex.com and tried to use it. Well, to my amazement that tracking number did not exist.
  2. From someone claiming to be PayPal and that my purchase of my new Dell Laptop computer needed some account verification. They actually included a very authentic Dell computer invoice that looked real! Well you guessed it…I did not purchase a new Dell. However, someone could have purchased one on my account so I logged into my PayPal account and my Dell account to verify this. Nothing…

How do we avoid phishing? Always log into the institution using the link you know is safe and typing it in your browser. You can then verify if something has changed. Also, call the institution and ask them if they sent you the email.

In summary, please make sure you follow the following safeguards:

  1. Have Antivirus software such as Norton or McAfee Internet Security Suite - $49.99 after $20 rebate
  2. Have Spyware and adware protection such as Webroot Antivirus: The best protection against viruses, spyware data theft and hackers.
  3. Have some password protection program such as Roboform. This keeps all user names and passwords encrypted and generates strong passwords.
  4. Make use of your junk email filters
  5. Do not click on email attachments even from friends unless you call them first
  6. Do not click on links that relate to financial information or others that look suspicious
  7. Be careful on clicking links that you Googled

That’s if for now. Get in touch with me if you have questions or need help.

Wow!  What an exciting couple months it has been.  Been so busy working on other Internet sites and marketing plans that I have not sent out a newsletter or contacted our members lately.  No problem…we are just getting ready to provide you with the latest technology on the Internet to follow your favorite sites, blogs, and most importantly…those people who make a difference in your life.  Once we get all of this technology figured out you will be the first to hear about it.  It will make your life much easier than sifting through all those emails.  Imagine a page that will give you all the headlines you want to subscribe to and be able to interact with others across one platform?  Stay tuned…looks like we will have more for you around 9/1.  If we can we will get you snippets before then.  Best,  Mark…
